We have gone back to the shelter the past two weeks and it has been very fun. We worked on some more beds for the dogs and met some new puppies. The owner got 4 new puppies in and let us meet them. They had not been in the grass yet so we set them up in a gated area with blankets, toys, food, and water and let them have some fun. They were all sweet and excited that we were there. We let the puppies enjoy their time with each other outside and we got started on something else. We took a bunch of the dogs on a walk. They were all very happy to be outside in the nice weather. Luckily, most of the dogs get along very well and are comfortable with each other, so we all got to walk them together and explore the shelter some more.

We started out at the shelter! Our first day we got to take a tour and meet all of the animals. We saw plenty of dogs, two wolves, two horses, and some cats. Our first day we got to walk the dogs. It was super fun, but a little challenging. The dogs weren't used to us yet so they were super crazy and excited we were walking them. They are all very sweet and good dogs. The wolves were very excited to see us. They were both trying to get our attention. The horses were also very sweet and we got to pet them. Our second time at the shelter we got to do some actual work. Bella and Jocelynn worked on putting together some beds for the dogs while I worked with heavenly. I took her on a walk and took some photos of her in hopes she will get adopted and find a forever home. My group and I have decided on a new project. We will be helping out a dog shelter called Canine castaways. This shelter helps animals who are in kill shelters be rescued, so then they can be cared for and eventually be adopted.
My group and I are wanting to go to canine castaways each Wednesday to volunteer. Volunteering would most likely include walking the dogs, cleaning up, feeding, and anything else the shelter needs help with. We all understand how much work dogs can be so we are eager to help out others and especially the shelter. On the website we see plenty of sweet looking dogs and hop everything works out. If everything does go to plan we will be holding a fundraiser for the shelter. We are wanting to either hold the fundraiser at Mozzi's, Mcdonald's, or Dairy Queen. The location needs to bring in a lot of people where we can raise the most money and get a portion of donations. We had a very successful fundraiser in the past, so we are excited to get started on something new and see how it does! |
